Yesterday (12th July) was one of those days in Facilities Management where everything seemed to happen at once – in a good way!
First of all we saw the resounding success of the second ever Rising FMs Careers Day, during which hordes of Facilities Managers descended upon UCL in London to speak to recruitment consultants, employers, training providers and careers advisers about how best to progress in the industry. We’ll be doing a full write-up next week, and we know the Rising FMs SIG will be releasing a series of videos to show some of the highlights of the day as well as the content of the presentations for those who couldn’t make it.
At the same time, the BIFM AGM and Members Council were in full flow. I don’t have the details as yet, but you can be sure we’ll be posting some of the highlights of the day as they come to light. One thing that has materialised is the winners of the BIFM Volunteer Recognition Awards, which featured a clean sweep for the Rising FMs SIG. Rising FMs was awarded SIG of the Year and chair Samantha Bowman, who is also one of our tutors, was named SIG Committee Member of the Year.
To complete the hat-trick, Sam was also unanimously voted onto the BIFM Board as Special Interest Group Representative.
So congratulations to Sam and the Rising FMs Group for a fantastic performance, but also well done to all the other winners on the day. For full details, visit http://www.bifm.org.uk/bifm/news/6772
